Tony Winner Viola Davis Cast in "Ender's Game" and "Beautiful Creatures" Films

Tony Award winner and current Oscar nominee Viola Davis has joined the cast of the upcoming film "Ender's Game," according to Deadline.com.

In the film, adapted from Orson Scott Card's science fiction novel of the same, Davis will play a military psychologist. Directed and written by Gavin Hood, the cast also includes Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford.

Following "Ender's Game," Davis will begin production on Warner Bros. and Alcon's "Beautiful Creatures."

Based on the novels by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia, "Beautiful Creatures" will be directed by Richard LaGravenese. Davis will play a librarian and friend of a teenage boy's deceased mother.



Davis won Tony Awards for her performances in King Hedley II and Fences. She was also nominated for her performance in Seven Guitars and is a 2011 Oscar nominee for "The Help." Her other film credits include "Doubt" (Oscar nomination), "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" and "Eat Pray Love," among others.
