PHOTO CALL: A Look at Abingdon Theatre Company's Lost on the Natchez Trace

Abingdon Theatre Company's world-premiere production of Jan Buttram's Lost on the Natchez Trace, a new play about a slave auctioneer and the one man who can save his life, began preview performances on Feb. 3.

Directed by Kate Bushmann, the Off-Broadway production co-stars Peter Brouwer and Leopold Lowe.

The piece, according to Abingdon, tells the story of slave auctioneer Malcolm Jeters (Brouwer), who falls from his mule in Mississippi's Natchez Trace, where he is stranded, injured and starving. Tom (Lowe), a runaway slave, discovers him, offering a sliver of hope in the vast swampland. "The meeting triggers a desperate negotiation for Malcolm's rescue. Who will pay the highest price?"
