NYC Ballet's Seven Deadly Sins, With Patti LuPone, Returns Feb. 8

Two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone reunites with the New York City Ballet for Kurt Weill's The Seven Deadly Sins beginning Feb. 8 at the Koch Theater.

Featuring text by Bertolt Brecht, New York City Ballet's new production of The Seven Deadly Sins premiered in spring 2011. The company is remounting the piece for a six-performance run through Feb. 12. Tony nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett stages the production.

LuPone (Gypsy, Evita, Master Class) is joined by Wendy Whelan in the piece that centers on the character of "Anna, who journeys through seven cities in search of riches for her Louisana based family and faces each of the seven sins during her journey."

Weill composed the ballet that has a libretto by Bertolt Brecht and was originally choreographed by George Balanchine. The ballet depicts the same character, portrayed by an actress (LuPone) and a dancer (Whelan). Weill's wife, Lotte Lenya, originated the role.

The Seven Deadly Sins has costumes by Judanna Lynn, set design by Beowulf Boritt and lighting by Jason Kantrowitz.
