The Tony-winning musical Big River, based on Mark Twain's "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and featuring a score by country legend Roger Miller and a book by William Hauptman, will open the season Sept.12-Oct. 21 (Issaquah) and Oct. 26-Nov. 18 (Everett).
The Jerry Bock-Sheldon Harnick-Joseph Stein classic Fiddler on the Roof, will run Nov. 7-Dec 30 (Issaquah) and Jan. 4-27, 3013 (Everett). Agatha Christie's thriller The Mousetrap will follow Jan. 16-Feb. 24, 2013 (Issaquah) and March 1-24, 2013 (Everett).
Trails, which was developed as part of the 2011 Village Originals Festival of New Musicals, will get a full staging March 13-April 21, 2013 (Issaquah), and April 26-May 19, 2013 (Everett). Trails has a book by Christy Hall, lyrics by Jordan Mann and music by Jeff Thomson.
According to the Village, "Two long-lost childhood friends are about drop everything to fulfill a promise and embark upon the journey of a lifetime: a 2,175-mile trek from Georgia to Maine along the Appalachian Trail. But this particular path is going to test more than just their stamina. As the challenges of the trail become increasingly difficult, long-kept secrets come to the surface and ghosts from the past haunt their steps. With captivating music full of humor and life, this new musical expedition tells a tale of personal strength and the rejuvenating spirit of adventure."
The season will close with Kander and Ebb's vaudeville-inspired classic Chicago, which will run May 8-June 29, 2013 (Issaquah) and July 5-28, 2013 (Everett).
Based in Issaquah, WA, with operations in Everett, the Village Theatre was founded in 1979. The theatre was part of the early development of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal.
