Jonathan Groff and the dancers from the Tony-winning revival of Anything Goes performing that musical's title number was one of the offerings at MCC Theater's Miscast gala, which was presented March 26 at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
The annual benefit brings together Broadway stars to perform songs from shows and roles in which they'd never be cast.
The repertoire for the evening, which was hosted by Lewis Black, follows:
Jonathan Groff- The Music that Makes Me Dance (Funny Girl) Nicole Parker - Soliloqy (Carousel) Nikki M. James - What More Can I Say? (Falsettos)
Walter Bobbie - If He Walked into My Life (Mame) Megan Hilty - Mean to Me (Ain't Misbehavin) Josh Gad & Rory O'Malley - For Good (Wicked) Constantine Maroulis - Home (The Wiz) Jan Maxwell - The Confrontation (Jekyll & Hyde)
Adriane Lenox - When She Loved Me ("Toy Story 2")
Nicole Parker - On My Own (Les Miserables)
Constantine Maroulis - And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going (Dreamgirls)
Jonathan Groff & Dancer Ensemble - Anything Goes (Anything Goes)
The evening also honored the authors of the musical Carrie —Academy Award-winning composer Michael Gore, Academy Award-winning lyricist Dean Pitchford and screenwriter Lawrence D. Cohen — for their "bold, daring, risk-taking spirit."
You're invited to spend an evening filled with personal tales of difficult choices, bad breaks, worse men and some of the most glorious songs ever written. It's an intimate evening, up close with a legend.
So pull up a chair and order up a drink. Because she's got a life to sing. Tickets as low as $85!
