The American production, a replica of the hit London staging, could follow the same strategy as its U.K. counterpart and transfer from its current thrust-staging at Lincoln Center Theater's Vivian Beaumont Theater to another Broadway house.
The London premiere of War Horse began performances in October 2007 at the National's Olivier Theatre, where it continued in repertory for a sold-out run through March 2009. The production later transferred to the West End's New London Theatre March 28, 2009, where it continues to run.
The Post reports that National Theatre executives are considering several Broadway theatres as a possible future home for War Horse. Tickets are on sale at the Beaumont through Oct. 14.
The Post reports that LCT has South Pacific and Light in the Piazza Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara in mind as British school teacher Anna Leonowens.
Representatives for LCT did not respond to Playbill.com's request for comment.
