Named outstanding lead performers in non-resident productions were Sahr Ngaujah for the national tour of Fela! and Cate Blanchett for a Kennedy Center engagement of Sydney Theatre Company's Uncle Vanya.

The Arena Stage engagement of Edward Albee's Virginia Woolf was named Outstanding Non-Resident Production. It has been announced for a coming Broadway run. Pam MacKinnon directed Tracy Letts and Amy Morton in the revival.
