In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, the Eastern Region Equal Employment Opportunity Committee of Actors’ Equity Association will present a concert reading of Gold Mountain May 21 at 7 PM at Hunter College’s Lang Recital Hall.
Gold Mountain has book, music and lyrics by Jason Ma.
The reading will also feature musical direction by Michael Larsen and production design by Bruce Alan Johnson.
Gold Mountain, according to press notes, is the untold story of "the Chinese men who, in search of a better life for their families, came to California to build the Central Pacific Railroad -- endangering their own lives and finding heartache and hardship instead of the gold they were promised. Two star-crossed lovers find each other in the midst of it all and must find a way to escape, or risk never being together again."
Hunter College’s Lang Recital Hall is located at 69th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues. Tickets are free, but seating is limited. RSVP to email@example.com by May 18.
You're invited to spend an evening filled with personal tales of difficult choices, bad breaks, worse men and some of the most glorious songs ever written. It's an intimate evening, up close with a legend.
So pull up a chair and order up a drink. Because she's got a life to sing. Tickets as low as $85!
