The event honors Tony Award winners Harry Belafonte (John Murray Anderson's Almanac) and James Earl Jones (Gore Vidal's The Best Man, Fences, The Great White Hope), producer Daryl Roth, Ed Schultz and Masa Tanaka.
Belafonte receives the Marlon Brando Award for "a life committed to social activism and excellence in film art"; Jones receives the Stella Adler Award for "consummate artistic achievement and interpretation"; Roth and Schultz receive the Harold Clurman Spirit Award for "courageous contribution to the culture of the city of New York and beyond"; and Tanaka receives the Stella Adler Corporate Award for "outstanding commitment and contributions to the betterment of the community."
Stella by Starlight benefits the studio's charitable programs including the Stella Adler Outreach Division, which provides free training to over 500 low-income, inner-city students each year.
