McGrath, who was Tony-nominated in 2005 for his performance in Spamalot, will play Ralph, the role made famous by the late Jackie Gleason, in the upcoming project.
No official announcement about a reading or production of the musical has been made.
As previously reported, Tony winner Jerry Mitchell (Catch Me If You Can, Hairspray) directed an industry reading of The Honeymooners in June 2011. The musical was penned by Dusty Kay and Bill Nuss with a score by Stephen Weiner and Peter Mills (Iron Curtain).
McGrath has also been seen on Broadway in My Favorite Year, The Goodbye Girl, Swinging on a Star, Little Me, Wonderful Town, Is He Dead?, Memphis and Born Yesterday. Visit his page at the Playbill Vault.
