At the 8:30-11 AM run, Maroulis will sing the national anthem; O'Malley will host the awards ceremony immediately following the race. Wilson Cruz (Rent) will also be on hand, and the cast of Avenue Q will offer a special performance in the park.
"This is one of the most important events in New York City for LGBT Athletes and their allies—commemorating the anniversary of the Stonewall riots and celebrating diversity," said race director Dane Grams in a statement. "This year is especially significant because Saturday's Pride Run will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, which is meaningful to so many New Yorkers and has an impact on hundreds of thousands struggling with HIV and AIDS beyond New York City, along with the support Front Runners gives to club members in need with life-threatening and debilitating illnesses."
The five-mile race expects more than 5,000 LGBT runners and is produced in conjunction with New York Road Runners and in partnership with City Parks & Recreation and The Central Park Conservancy.
