Mexican stage and screen star Bianca Marroquin and Broadway veteran Brian O'Brien step into the roles of Roxie Hart and Billy Flynn, respectively, in the long-running Tony Award-winning revival of Kander and Ebb's Chicago July 17 at the Ambassador Theatre.
Marroquin first made made her Broadway debut in Chicago in 2003, after portraying Roxie Hart in the Spanlish-language Mexico City production of the hit musical. She has also appeared on stage in In the Heights, And the World Goes Round, Beauty and the Beast, Rent, The Vagina Monologues and The Phantom of the Opera.
O'Brien is a veteran of the Broadway production of Chicago, and has also appeared in The Visit, Steel Pier, Annie Get Your Gun, The Pirate Queen and Promises, Promises. He previously performed the role of lawyer Billy Flynn on Broadway and in the national tour of Chicago.
The revival of Chicago began life as one of the three annual Encores! presentations offered by City Center. The musical opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in November 1996 where it remained through February 1997. The musical transferred to the Shubert Theatre on Feb. 11, 1997, and played that house through Jan. 26, 2003. The revival reopened at the Ambassador Theatre, its current home, on Jan. 29, 2003.
