Fitzgerald (Young Frankenstein, Finian's Rainbow) joins Jon Bernthal ("The Walking Dead") and actor-playwright John Pollono for the New York premiere of Small Engine Repair, which will be directed by Jo Bonney (The Break of Noon, Some Girl(s), Fat Pig) May 16-June 23, 2013, at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
Here's how it's billed: ""Frank, Swaino and Packie - buddies since high school, now past their prime - meet off-hours in Frank's out-of-the-way repair shop under cloudy circumstances that only Frank has a handle on. Enter Chad, a plugged-in preppy college jock, whose arrival ignites an explosion of long-simmering resentment and rage in this taut, twisty, comic thriller."
Complete casting for Belber's Don't Go Gentle will feature Barnes (The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Becky Shaw), Cristofer ("Smash," A View from the Bridge), Maxx Brawer, Angela Lewis (Rapture, Blister, Burn) and Jennifer Mudge (The Philanthropist)
Lucie Tiberghien will stage the premiere of Belber's play, which will run Sept. 27-Nov. 4 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The play, according to MCC, "follows Judge Lawrence Driver: conservative powerhouse on the bench, failure at home. Now retired, widowed, and seeking redemption, Lawrence volunteers to do pro bono legal work with Tanya, a vulnerable ex-con with a troubled teenage son, while working to repair the increasingly complicated relationships with his own adult children. But do-overs don’t come easy, and when his newfound generosity is perceived as condescension, Lawrence runs the risk of losing everything."
As previously reported, David Cromer will direct the New York premiere of Paul Downs Colaizzo's Really Really Jan. 31-March 10, 2013, at the Lortel. The play received its world premiere at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA, in January.
According to MCC Theater, "In the hazy aftermath of a wild party, dawn breaks on what appears to be just another day in the undergrad carnival that revolves around a close circle of friends. But when morning-after gossip turns ugly, the veneer of loyalty and friendship is peeled back to reveal a vicious jungle of sexual politics, raw ambition, and class warfare where only the strong could possibly survive."
