Playbill.com takes a look back at the theatre work of celebrated writer Gore Vidal, who died July 31 at age 86. His Broadway credits includes A Visit to a Small Planet, Romulus, Weekend and The Best Man, currently enjoying a starry revival at the Schoenfeld Theatre.



The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed Aug. 3 at 8 PM for one minute in his memory.

Mr. Vidal was an American writer who wrote plays, television dramas and screenplays; and published some 25 novels, two memoirs and several volumes of essays.
