The second annual Broadway Salutes, a celebration of industry professionals on stage and behind the scenes, will take place Sept. 14 in Duffy Square.

The 4 PM ceremony recognizes the efforts of actors and musicians, as well as others who dedicate their careers to Broadway, including stagehands, publicists, ushers, make-up artists, dressers, designers, directors, producers, managers, theatre owners, choreographers and more. The 2010 component will pay a special honor to individuals enjoying careers of 25, 35 and 50 years in the business.

The event, which is co-presented by the Broadway League and the Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds, will also include 'Stories 2010,' a collection of personal stories from members of the Broadway industry whose stories go unheard, but without whom, the show could not go on.

"We in theatre know that much of the work happens backstage, away from the spotlight, in the darkness of the wings, in an office cubicle or the belly of a Broadway basement, far from the watchful eyes of the audience,' said Broadway Salutes co-chair Daniel Adamian. "Through 'Stories 2010,' Broadway Salutes will bring some exceptional stories of service to the public''s attention and give these moments — and the craftspeople behind them — the recognition they deserve."

Individuals are able to submit their stories at SDCweb. A panel of Broadway professionals will review the submissions for inclusion in the Sept. 14 event.

Father Duffy Square is located in the heart of the Broadway theatre district at 47th Street and Broadway.
