Directed by Kent Nicholson, the cast will comprise Tony nominee de'Adre Aziza, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Doreen Montalvo, Javier Muñoz, Nik Walker and Andre Ward.
The reading will feature music direction by Daniel Sefik.
Inspired by the film of the same name by Sundance Jury Award winner Joshua Bee Alafia, Cubamor has a book by James D. Sasser, music by Charles Vincent Burwell and lyrics by both Sasser and Burwell.
The present-day musical, press notes state, "blends Afro-Cuban music styles with Hip-Hop and R&B to tell the story of two Americans that travel to Cuba, and fall in love with two Cubans despite the political and cultural divide. Guided by the music and the spiritual forces of the island, they embark on a journey that confronts the stereotypes they have of each other and their countries."
