The performance of Jersey Boys, featuring Tony winner John Lloyd Young, begins at 8 PM at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street). (As previously reported, One Man, Two Guvnors will offer its special performance Aug. 26 at 8 PM at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street); 2012 Tony Award winner James Corden stars.)
Special performances, according to the Actors Fund, "are among the most thrilling theatrical experiences, and the hottest tickets in town. Broadway companies generously give their time and talent by adding these special shows to their already rigorous schedules, and perform for audiences full of their peers from the entertainment community."
Jersey Boys is written by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, direction by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
Jersey Boys is the recipient of the 2006 Tony Award for Best Musical and the 2009 Olivier Award for Best Musical. The Original Broadway Cast Recording, produced by Bob Gaudio, received the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album and has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The Broadway production also won the 2006 Outer Critics Circle & Drama League Awards for Best Musical.
