Directed by Bruce Katzman, the limited engagement continues through Oct. 21 and features playwright Skordi in the title role.
Here's how the company describes the work: "His hospitality was legendary, his charm mythical, his prowess unstoppable, his power formidable and his fortune… unsurpassed. Now, celebrated actor, Anthony Skordi, brings this larger-than-life persona to the stage in his one-man production of Onassis. Aristotle Onassis' life has been referred to as both a storybook existence, as well as a Greek tragedy. Skordi has exhaustedly researched the man who entertained everyone from business tycoons and royalty to the icons of stage and screen, as well as Presidents… and their wives, to offer a glimpse into the opulent world of the man who made and lived by his own rules as he went along. The billionaire faced scandals, deaths and what many would call the 'Onassis Curse.'"
Skordi, who was also seen as Edgar Allen Poe in Willard Simms and Glenn M. Benest's Poe!, has worked at The Royal Shakespeare Company and is also a member of Vanessa Redgrave's company, Moving Theatre. His film and television credits include "Men of a Certain Age," "Detroit 1-8-7" and the recent Kevin Spacey feature film, "Envelope."
