Stage and screen actors William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum will star in "Shameless," a new dysfunctional-family series that will run Sundays at 10 PM on Showtime beginning Jan. 9, 2011, according to Variety.

Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Allison Janney (9 to 5, "The West Wing") will appear in the show's pilot as a character who had a recurring role on the 2004 British series on which the show is based.

The series stars Macy (Speed-the-Plow, Oleanna, "Fargo") as a working-class, hard-drinking father of six children. Rossum ("The Phantom of the Opera") will play his oldest child.

The show will be executive produced by John Wells and Paul Abbott.
