Day (The Realistic Joneses, Proof) is joined by Michael Laurence (Desire Under the Elms) as Margie's high school boyfriend Mike in a cast that also features Nancy E. Carroll (Present Laughter), Karen MacDonald (All My Sons), Rachael Holmes (Ruined) and Nick Westrate (Tribes).
Here's how the Huntington bills the play: "Good People takes place in South Boston where this month's paycheck covers last month's bills and bingo is a night on the town. Sharp-tongued single-mom Margie Walsh has just been let go from yet another job and is facing eviction. Scrambling to make ends meet for herself and her developmentally disabled adult daughter, she looks up an old flame – now a fertility doctor living in Chestnut Hill with his young wife — hoping he'll help her make a fresh start."
Good People has scenic design by Alexander Dodge, costume design by Ilona Somogyi, lighting design by Matthew Richards and sound design by Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen.
The Manhattan Theatre Club-commissioned play was praised by critics when it arrived on Broadway Feb. 8, 2011, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The Broadway cast featured Frances McDormand, who won a Tony for her performance, Tate Donovan, Estelle Parsons, Becky Ann Baker, Patrick Carroll and Renee Elise Goldsberry. Daniel Sullivan directed.
