Directed by Rob Barron, the production is billed as a "family-friendly musical spectacle that spans the lesser-known years in the life of Jesus Christ." It features more than 85 performers and is performed in Spanish with English supertitles.
The Narrator is played by Mexican tenor Miguel Ángel Ramírez; Jesus, during his adult life, is played by Felipe Salazar; Mary is played by Juliana Reyes; and Erwin Barrera is Joseph. The role of the male devil is shared by dancer/composer Jaime Ortíz and actor/dancer Juan Camilo Castillo, and the female devil is played by pop singer Isa Mosquera.
The Most Amazing Story Ever Sung features book by Arturo Tovar and music and lyrics by María Isabel Murillo.
This performance, according to press notes, is based on an "investigation into the life of Jesus that includes the Evangelical canons, the Apocryphal canons, the material from the Dead Sea, as well as the manuscripts of the Nag Hammadi Library."
