James Macdonald, who staged the 2009 London premiere of Cock at the Royal Court Theatre, also directed the Off-Broadway production that began previews May 1 and officially opened May 17. The audience is seated on all sides of the in-the-round-staging of the 80-minute piece.
Cock features Cory Michael Smith (The Shaggs, The Whale) in the central role of John, a man who takes a break from his boyfriend only to encounter a woman who changes his life.
Here's how Cock is billed: "When John and his boyfriend take a break, the last thing he expects is to suddenly meet the woman of his dreams. Now he has a big choice to make."
It has set and costume design by Miriam Buether, lighting design by Peter Mumford and sound design by Darren L. West.
Bartlett's 13 premiered at the National Theatre last October. His plays also include Earthquakes in London, Love Love Love, Artefacts, Contradictions and My Child.
