The Golden Theatre is undergoing renovations in anticipation of the world premiere of The Anarchist, which begins Broadway previews Nov. 13 towards a Dec. 2 opening. Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross, Oleanna, Speed-the-Plow) will direct his intense drama about "two powerful women forced to engage in a cage match of wits."

The production is scheduled for a 14-week run through Feb. 17, 2013.

To celebrate the box-office opening Oct. 9 and the Golden's renovations, producers have announced that anyone who purchases tickets at the box office on Oct. 10 may find a "Golden Ticket" in their envelope. The ticket entitles the winner to a VIP price package consisting of dinner for two at B. Smith's on Restaurant Row, pre or post-show drinks at 54 Below, and a Playbill signed by LuPone and Winger.

LuPone has a long history with Mamet. The two first worked together on his drama The Woods in 1977. LuPone's Mamet appearances also include The Water Engine, Edmond, The Old Neighborhood and the film "State and Main." (LuPone will also be part of Playbill's third Broadway on the High Seas cruise, which sets sail Aug. 4, 2013, from Stockholm, Sweden.)

The Anarchist marks Winger's Broadway debut. She is a three-time Academy Award nominee for "Terms of Endearment," "Shadowlands" and "An Officer and a Gentleman."

The Anarchist will have scenic and costume design by Academy Award winner Patrizia Von Brandenstein and lighting by Tony Award winner Jeff Croiter.
