Rupert Everett and Freddie Fox to Transfer to West End in David Hare's The Judas Kiss

The current London production of David Hare's The Judas Kiss, starring Rupert Everett as Oscar Wilde and Freddie Fox as his lover Lord Alfred "Bosie" Douglas, ends its run at Hampstead Theatre Oct. 13 before a brief national tour, but will then transfer to the West End, resuming performances at the Duke of York's Theatre Jan. 9, 2013, prior to an official opening Jan. 17.

Directed by Neil Armfield, it is designed by Dale Ferguson, with costumes by Sue Blane, lighting by Rick Fisher and sound by Paul Groothuis. It is produced in the West End by Robert Fox, Theatre Royal Bath Productions, Hampstead Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre.

The full Hampstead company will reprise their roles. As well as Everett and Fox, they comprise Cal Macaninch (as Robert Ross), with Ben Hardy, Kirsty Oswald, Alister Cameron and Tom Colley.

Hare's play focuses on two critical moments in Wilde’s last years – the eve of his arrest at the Cadogan Hotel and a night in Naples after his release from two years imprisonment. It speculates on the consequences of his self-destructive fatalism, betrayal and love without trust.

Everett was most recently seen on the London stage in Pygmalion (which transferred to the Garrick from Chichester Festival Theatre), and on Broadway in Blithe Spirit (opposite Angela Lansbury). Other theatre credits include the original cast of Another Country, which he subsequently reprised in the film version. Films include "My Best Friend's Wedding," "The Importance of Being Earnest" and "An Ideal Husband."

Fox was recently seen in the West End in Hay Fever (Noël Coward Theatre). He has appeared at the Old Vic in Cause Célèbre and A Flea in her Ear.

Armfield is one of Australia's leading theatre and opera directors. He was Belvoir Street Theatre's artistic director for 17 years. His extensive opera work includes Royal Opera Covent Garden, the Lyric Opera Chicago, the Zurich Opera, the Canadian Opera, Houston Grand Opera, the Welsh National Opera and the English National Opera. On Broadway, he directed Geoffrey Rush in Exit The King.
