Kilmer ("The Doors," "Tombstone," "Batman Forever") wrote, directed and stars in the one-man show. It was seen in developmental presentations at the Disney Concert Hall, The Actors' Gang, and The United States Veterans Artists' Alliance Hall. A 2012 spring engagement played the Masonic Lodge at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Citizen Twain is characterized as an exploration of "the famed author's wry humor, his successes and tragedies of his later life, which included bankruptcy, and a soul-searching feud with Christian Science founder Mary Baker Eddy."
Kilmer appeared Off-Broadway in The Slab Boys, Henry IV Part I and Tis Pity She's a Whore, and in Los Angeles he played Moses in The Ten Commandments: The Spectacle Musical.
