Tyne Daly and James Earl Jones Read Love Letters at Bucks County Playhouse Oct. 20

Tony Award winners Tyne Daly and James Earl Jones co-star in two benefit readings of A.R. Gurney's Love Letters beginning Oct. 20 at the Bucks County Playhouse.

John Tillinger (Don't Dress For Dinner, Say Goodnight Gracie) directs the poignant and comic two-person play that takes place Oct. 20 at 7:30 PM and Oct. 21 at 2 PM. A benefit reception at the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm follows the Oct. 20 evening performance. 

Love Letters, according to the Playhouse, "is a unique and imaginative theatre piece which is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down."

Daly (Master Class, Gypsy, Rabbit Hole) portrays Melissa with Jones (Driving Miss Daisy, Fences, The Best Man) as Andrew.

"The Playhouse continues to embrace its history as a place that welcomed legends of the entertainment world and we are also especially thrilled to welcome Ms. Daly back home to the stage that she appeared on alongside her entire family in 1963," producing director Jed Bernstein said in an earlier statement.
