Marie Antoinette premiered at the American Repertory Theater earlier this fall. Much of the original cast and creative team reunite for the Yale Rep engagement. Ireland (Reasons to Be Pretty, Blasted, In the Wake) replaces Brooke Bloom in the title role.
Rebecca Taichman directs Adjmi's play that officially opens Nov. 1 for a run through Nov. 17. Tony Award nominee Karole Armitage (Passing Strange, Hair) choreographs the production.
Returning cast members include Fred Arsenault (Born Yesterday) as Emperor Joseph of Austria, Hannah Cabell (Compulsion) as Yolande de Polignac, David Greenspan (The Patsy) as Sheep, Steven Ratazzi (Age of Iron) as Louis XVI, Vin Knight (Gatz) as the Royalist, Polly Lee as Therese de Lamballe, Jake Silbermann (3C) as Axel Fersen, Jo Lambert and Teale Sperling as Marie's coterie and Brian Wiles as Guard. Brian Wiles portrays the Guard, with Ashton Woerz (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as the Dauphin.
Marie Antoinette has set design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Gabriel Berry, lighting design by Christopher Akerlind, sound design by Matt Hubbs and puppet design by Matt Acheson.
Adjmi's plays also include 3C, Elective Affinities, Stunning, The Evildoers, Strange Attractors and Caligula.
