Jack Cummings III, the artistic director of the Transport Group, will stage the play that runs through May 19, 2013. And Away We Go was commissioned by the Pearl.
Bahorek (Spelling Bee, February House), Tony nominee Camp (The Heidi Chronicles, Dinner at Eight) and McNall (Figaro) will be joined by Rachel Botchan, Robin Leslie Brown and Dominic Cuskern.
"I have long admired The Pearl for its commitment to a company of actors who take on the challenge of finding new life and relevance in the great plays of the past, many of them written specifically for companies much like The Pearl. The invitation to write a new play for them was one I could not resist. It's an exhilarating proposal—a daunting one, too," McNally said in a statement.
McNally earned Tony Awards for his plays Master Class and Love! Valour! Compassion!, as well as the books to the musicals Kiss of the Spider Woman and Ragtime. His works also include The Ritz; Frankie and Johnny at the Claire de Lune; Lips Together, Teeth Apart; Deuce; Some Men; Corpus Christi; Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams; The Lisbon Traviata; The Rink; A Man of No Importance, Catch Me If You Can, The Visit; and The Full Monty.
Manhattan Theatre Club's New York City premiere of McNally's Golden Age begins previews Nov. 15 at New York City Center – Stage I.
