Lenny Henry, who recently starred as the title role in the West End production of Othello, will play conflicted patriarch Troy Maxson in Fences, which will continue through March 2, 2013, at Theatre Royal before touring the West End.
Directed by Paulette Randall, Fences, according to press notes, "is one of the greatest American dramas of the 20th century. Set between the Korean and Vietnam wars, it is the story of a family trying to hold itself together and of what happens when a strong man is robbed of his dreams."
Performances will be held the weeks of Feb. 18 and Feb. 25 at Theatre Royal Bath; the week of March 4 at the Richmond Theatre; the week of March 18 at the Milton Keynes Theatre; the week of March 25 at the Oxford Playhouse; the week of April 1 at Theatr Cymru, Mold; the week of April 8 at the Malvern Theatre; and the week of April 15 at the Cambridge Arts Theatre.
