The Project Shaw series continues Nov. 19 with a reading of
George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion.
The reading at
The Players Club in Manhattan features Reg Rogers as Higgins; Ana Reeder as Eliza; Daniel Jenkins as Pickering; Daniel Davis as Doolittle; Cynthia Harris as Mrs. Higgins; Cynthia Darlow as Mrs. Pearce; Robin Leslie Brown as Mrs. Eynsford-Hill; Zachary Spicer and Emily Taplin Boyd as her children; and Ian Gould. Michael Musto of the Village Voice narrates; Terry Teachout of the Wall Street Journal hosts.
Show time is 7 PM.
David Staller, the acclaimed singer-actor who has produced and directed all of the Project Shaw offerings, handles those same duties for this reading.
First presented in 1914, this comedy, according to press notes, "follows the tempestuous story of the linguistics professor and the flower girl. It was an instant sensation and was the inspiration for the musical
My Fair Lady."
