05 Dec 2012
The new musical
Table, penned by New Yorker contributor Adam Gopnik and Academy Award winner David Shire, will receive a January reading under the wings of the Long Wharf Theatre.
A representative for the New Haven, CT-based theatre company confirmed to Playbill.com that a January workshop will take place with Long Wharf artistic director
Gordon Edelstein at the helm.
Inspired by Gopnik's 2011 book "The Table Comes First: Family, France, and the Meaning of Food," the new musical has book and lyrics by Gopnik, with lyrics and music by Shire (
Baby, Closer Than Ever).
The Long Wharf hopes to stage
Table in a future season.
