The intricate lives of people living on a Show Boat first came to life at the Ziegfeld Theatre on Dec. 27, 1927. Adapted by Oscar Hammerstein II from Edna Ferber's novel, with music composed by Jerome Kern, the beautiful score featured such classics as "Ol' Man River" and "Make Believe." The cast included Helen Morgan, Norma Terris, Charles Winninger and Jules Bledsoe.
