The production will feature cast members from the acclaimed Off-Broadway staging at Barrow Street Theatre.
Directed by David Cromer, the cast features original New York cast members Will Brill, Russell Harvard, Susan Pourfar and Gayle Rankin, as well as Lee Roy Rogers and Jeff Still, who took over roles in the long-running Off-Broadway production.
At the center of Tribes, press notes state, is "Billy, the youngest son of a raucous family of intellectuals obsessed with self expression. As his parents and siblings verbally spar and compete for attention, Billy, who is deaf, catches what he can by lip-reading. When Billy meets Sylvia, a young woman who is an expert at sign language and is losing her hearing, he asks her to teach him how to sign, and for the first time, he is introduced to the deaf community. Billy’s life is transformed as a different world is unveiled to him. But when a new door opens, does another have to be closed?"
The production will have scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by Tristan Raines, lighting design by Keith Parham, sound design by Daniel McKluger and projection design is by Jeff Sugg. The production stage manager is David S. Franklin.
