Award-winning actor-writer Charles Busch stars in The Peccadillo Theater Company's staged reading of Sidney Howard's 1926 play The Silver Cord Jan. 14 at Theatre at St. Clement's.
Obie winner Dan Wackerman directs a cast that also features Jessie Austrian, Molly Camp, Robert Eli and Wesley Taylor. Show time is 7 PM.
The Silver Cord, according to press notes, "centers on a domineering matriarch (Charles Busch) who is pathologically close to her sons."
Originally starring Laura Hope Crews, the play opened Dec. 26, 1926, at the Golden Theatre, running for 112 performances. Crews subsequently starred in the 1933 RKO film version with Irene Dunne, Joel McCrea and Frances Dee.
