Newman will chat about her Blue Apple children’s books, "What’s New at the Zoo" as well as the brand-new "Flying to Neverland with Peter Pan," which is based on the lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. (Newman was married to Mr. Green from 1940 until his death in 2002.)
The weekly live talk show, which includes interviews and performances from Broadway stars, is now held at 5 PM (to accommodate 7 PM curtains) at the New York cabaret Don't Tell Mama. There is a $10 donation and a two-drink minimum. The donation goes directly to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the nation's leading industry-based, not-for-profit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization.
For this week, the donations will go to The Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative/The Actors Fund, which was created to address the myriad of concerns women face when dealing with health issues.
Don't Tell Mama is located in New York City on West 46th Street, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. Call (212) 757-0788 for reservations. DVDs of the talk show are available by visiting sethrudetsky.com.
