Directors, choreographers and music directors have been announced for the St. Louis Muny's 2013 summer season, which kicks off June 17 with Monty Python's Spamalot.
In a statement executive producer Mike Isaacson said, "This is a phenomenally talented group of artists, and I'm thrilled to be working with all of them. Last season our audience inspired us to take many risks and push ourselves far. These directors and choreographers are already working on ways to top last season’s level of excitement and excellence."
Denis Jones will direct and choreograph the Tony-winning Spamalot, which continues through June 23. The production will also feature music direction by Ben Whiteley.
Dan Goggin, creator of Nunsense – Muny Style!, will also be the production supervisor for the limited engagement, which runs July 1-7. The creative team also includes director Matt Lenz, choreographer Teri Gibson and musical director Michael Horsley.
The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific will be directed by Rob Ruggiero with choreography by Ralph Perkins and musical direction by Brad Haak. Performance dates are July 8-14.
Richard Jay-Alexander, who has a long history with the international hit musical Les Misérables, will direct the through-sung work, which will be seen July 15-21 at the outdoor venue. Musical director for the production is Kevin Stites.
Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins, which runs July 25-Aug. 2, will be directed by Gary Griffin. Alex Sanchez will choreograph the family-friendly musical with musical direction by Michael Horsley.
The season will conclude with the classic American musical West Side Story, running Aug. 5-11. The creative team will include director Marc Bruni, choreographer Chris Bailey and musical director James Moore.
