Living for Today was originally set to take place Oct. 28, 2012, but Hurricane Sandy forced the presenters to postpone the concert.
Also scheduled to perform were Michael Potts (Book of Mormon, Grey Gardens), Tituss Burgess ("30 Rock," Jersey Boys), David R. Gordon (Flashdance), Autumn Hurlbert (Legally Blonde, Little Women), Tess Soltau (Addams Family, Into the Woods), Hannah Elless (Godspell), Tony Yazbeck ("Smash," Chicago, Gypsy), Steve Rosen (Spamalot, Guys & Dolls), Courtney Reed (In the Heights, Mamma Mia!, Aladdin), Cassandra Sandberg, Rheaume Crenshaw and the men of "Shubert Alley" (Jamison Scott, Patrick Massey and Kevin Massey).
Living for Today was created in honor of the late Gilana Shira Alpert by her brother, David Alpert. The Gilana Shira Alpert Fund was established in 2007 following the loss of Alpert at the age of 26. The fund, which has raised over $22,000, supports organizations Gilana was passionate about, including equality advocacy, Sex education, theatre studies and Holocaust awareness.
