Tony Award winner Elaine Stritch's 88th birthday will be celebrated on the PBS show "Theater Talk"; "The Elaine Stritch Birthday Bash" will premiere Feb. 16 at 1 AM on Thirteen/PBS.
Joining her in the festivities are two of her best friends, music director Rob Bowman and actor Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (who appeared with Stritch in the Broadway revival of A Little Night Music).
The show will also air in New York City on CUNY TV Feb. 16 at 8:30 PM, Feb. 17 at 12:30 PM and Feb. 18 at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM. After its initial broadcast, the interview may be viewed online by clicking here.
In a freewheeling conversation, according to press notes, "the legendary Stritch – who triumphed on Broadway in shows including Sail Away, Company and At Liberty, and recently played a pivotal role on TV's '30 Rock' – has her say about Barbara Walters, New York City, Stephen Sondheim, Tina Fey, Bela Lugosi, Judy Garland, and the gift basket that Alec Baldwin sent her after her hip operation. Topping off the celebration, Stritch is presented with a birthday cake by 'Theater Talk''s enraptured co-hosts Michael Riedel of the New York Post and executive producer Susan Haskins, who end the show by looking forward to the extraordinary theater talent's next appearance on the show despite her radical plans for the future."
"Theater Talk" is the weekly series dedicated to the world of the stage. The program is jointly produced by the not-for-profits Theater Talk Productions and CUNY TV. It is taped in the Himan Brown TV and Radio Studios at The City University of New York (CUNY) TV in Manhattan.
