A free reading of Drew Gasparini's musical Crazy, Just Like Me, which took home the 2011 Best of Fest Award at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, is offered Feb. 22 at the York Theater at St. Peter's.
Agosto directs the 6:30 PM reading, which features a book, music and lyrics by Gasparini ("Smash"); Max Friedman is the assistant director.
Crazy, Just Like Me is described as "the story of three twenty-somethings who are teetering on the brink of large, personal discoveries. Simon and Mike have been best friends since diapers, and are roommates. Lauren is Mike's insightful, confident girlfriend. The relationship between the three of them shifts when Simon begins seeing a therapist and feelings start...coming to the surface."
Crazy, Just Like Me was featured in the National Alliance of Musical Theater showcase in 2009, the San Francisco theatre festival in 2009 and the 2011 New York Musical Theater Festival. Gasparini has also written the music and lyrics for Circles, Inappropriate Stories Told at a Bar, The Up/Down and Above My Pay Grade (book by Louis Sacco). His work also appears on the second season of NBC's "Smash."
The York Theater at St. Peter's is located at 619 Lexington Avenue. For more information and to make a reservation, email email@example.com.
