Tony Award-nominated actor Tom Hewitt, most recently seen as Pontius Pilate in the critically acclaimed, Tony-nominated revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, will play a modern-day Medea in the world premiere of Another Medea, a "disturbing monodrama" written and directed by Aaron Mark.
The limited engagement will run four performances only at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre beginning March 31.
In Another Medea, according to press notes, "we meet the incarcerated Marcus Sharp, a one time New York actor who recounts in gruesome detail how his obsessions with a man named Jason and the myth of Medea lead to horrific, unspeakable events." Writer-director Mark describes the 80-minute monologue as "Grand Guignol horror in the style of Spalding Gray."
In addition to his Tony-nominated turn in The Rocky Horror Show, Tom Hewitt's other Broadway credits include Jesus Christ Superstar;Chicago; Dracula, The Musical; The Boys from Syracuse; The Lion King; School for Scandal; and The Sisters Rosensweig. He also appeared in the national tours of Urinetown and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and has been seen Off-Broadway in Jeffrey, Beau Jest, Richard III and Othello.
