Stage and screen star Valerie Harper, most recently on Broadway in a Tony-nominated turn in Looped— and diagnosed Jan. 15 with terminal brain cancer — is speaking out about her illness. Since the news of her diagnosis broke in recent days, Harper has spoken out to People magazine, the "Today" show and "The Doctors." Playbill gathered some clips.
Harper will forever be remembered as Mary Richards' best friend, window dresser Rhoda Morgenstern on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and its subsequent spin-off "Rhoda."
The 73-year-old Harper, who has leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, may have "as little as three months left to live," according to People magazine.
The beloved artist, who plans to face her final days with "courage and humor," told People, "I don't think of dying… I think of being here now."
