Canadian actor-musician Kyle Riabko, who starred on Broadway in Spring Awakening and workshopped the new Bacharach-Steven Sater musical Some Lovers, will return to familiar musical territory with What's It All About? – Bacharach Reimagined.
Riabko and an "eclectic group of young performers" will perform arrangements of Bacharach (Promises, Promises) classics, featuring lyrics by the late Hal David and more. Riabko will also pen the new arrangements for the production.
The new season will also include Will Power's Fetch Clay, Make Man staged by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff (Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar). The production received its world premiere in 2009 at the McCarter Theatre Center starring Tony winner Ben Vereen as Hollywood star Stepin Fetchit. McAnuff also directed. Casting for the NYTW production has not been announced.
NYTW will also present the American premiere of Caryl Churchill's Love and Information, directed by James Macdonald (Blasted, Top Girls). The production marks Churchill's seventh play to premiere at NYTW.
The play is characterized as a "theatrical kaleidoscope exploring our rapidly-changing world—a world where non-stop streams of information threaten the very essence of our humanity. Love and Information reaffirms Churchill's continued ability to reinvent herself as a playwright and keep her finger on the pulse of contemporary life, as she illuminates society's fascination with high-speed information using her signature wit, candor, and nimble use of language."
A fourth production will be announced at a later date.
