John Simpkins (The Black Suits, City of Angels) will stage the March 28-31 workshop at the Provincetown Playhouse. It has book and lyrics by Kate Thomas and music by Joey Contreras. The production has musical direction by Eric Kang and choreography by MK Lawson.
According to the creators, "The show tells the story of Emmy Adams, a college transfer student and writing hopeful, who is admitted into Webb University’s advanced writing program after spending her entire life in a dead -end South Dakota town. After her professor declares Emmy's writing to be lacking in experience and creativity, Emmy fears that both her writing and life are inadequate. Desperate for writing material and influenced by her new friendship with a fledgling teen starlet, Emmy becomes recklessly embroiled with a campus fraternity and uses that experience as content for her senior memoir writing assignment. Unexpected choices in her writing and her life culminate in an Internet scandal that has the potential to cause irreversible damage."
The cast features Stephen J. Beard, Alexandra Blair, Livie Casto, Joshua David Cavanaugh, Donald Coggin, Stephen Eckelmann, Josh Greenblatt, Ally Katselianos, Jane Kivnick, Andrew Klingelhofer, Stephanie Marantz and Nikhil Saboo.
