The Broadway Close Up series at Merkin Concert Hall will kick off with the annual Bound for Broadway concert Oct. 7 at 7:30 PM.
Tony nominee and Emmy Award winner Liz Callaway will once again host the evening, which will feature interviews with writers of five new shows, including My Life is a Musical by Lucille Lortel Award nominee Adam Overett; Nine Wives by award-winning author Dan Elish and Drama Desk Award nominee Douglas J. Cohen; and Drive by Andy Monroe, composer of the acclaimed musical adaptation of Dan Savage’s "The Kid." Performers will be announced at a later date.
A Party with Amanda Green will be presented Oct. 28 at 7:30 PM. Featuring musical direction by Matt Gallagher, Tony nominee Green will perform some of her songs and discuss her collaborations with Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio and Pulitzer Prize winners Doug Wright and Tom Kitt.
Tony winner Karen Ziemba will be part of the Nov. 18 performance, which is titled Cy Coleman, Ladies Man. A cast to be announced will bring to life highlights from Coleman’s impressive career, including “Hey, Look Me Over” and “Nobody Does It Like Me.” Show time is 7:30 PM.
