The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presents a developmental reading of Rose Petals, starring Lisa Brescia, Julie Hanson and Remy Zaken, July 12 and 14 at the Theater Row Studio.
Directed by Celine Rosenthal with music direction by Karl Michael Johnson, Rose Petals features music by Elizabeth Hagstedt and a book and lyrics by Sarah Rebell.
Joining Brescia (Mamma Mia!, Wicked, Aida), Hanson (Phantom of the Opera) and Zaken (Spring Awakening) are Charissa Bertels (A Christmas Story), Ken Clark (February House), Cooper Grodin (Shakespeare in the Park's Into the Woods), Rachel Bahler ("Pan Am"), Haley Greenstein, Jeff Manno, Elyssa Samsel (Fairy Tale at NYMF), Amanda Savan (Cruel Shoes at NYMF), Emily Stokes and David Alan Thornton.
Here's how it's billed: "When spunky debutante Maude becomes pregnant, her mother will go to any lengths to maintain the family’s precarious place in the society of Gilded Age New York. Will the ensuing scandals, schemes, and slander tear the family apart?"
Readings are held July 12 at 3 PM and 7 PM and July 14 at 7 PM. Laura Lindsay is the production stage manager.
NYMF is the flagship program of The National Music Theater Network. Now entering its tenth year, The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) exists to "revitalize musical theatre culture by discovering and promoting new musical theatre artists, producers and projects; nurturing a vibrant and innovative artistic community; and connecting one of America's greatest art forms with a diverse, contemporary audience."
Theater Row Studio is located at 410 West 42nd Street. For more information and tickets, call (212) 352-3101 or visit NYMF.org.
