"The third episode will write Finn out of the show," Reilly stated. "That episode will deal directly with the incidents involved with Cory's passing and the drug abuse in particular."
"Glee" creator and director Ryan Murphy is also expected to create a series of PSAs featuring the cast, which will air during the episode. Proceeds from music sales related to the third episode will be donated to a fund in Monteith's name.
Reilly did not confirm if Finn's death would be the result of an overdose. Coroner reports stated that Monteith died due to "mixed drug toxicity" of heroin and alcohol.
Reilly also stated that it was Monteith's girlfriend and fellow "Glee" star Lea Michele, who was the driving force for the cast and crew to return to work. The Spring Awakening star, who recently thanked fans for their support, tweeted today, "First day of glee today..And at my first wardrobe fitting for Rachel Berry for Season Five! I've missed her so much."
Additionally, Reilly stated that he did not foresee "Glee" continuing past a sixth season, but added, "If we discover a new crop of kids and there's some breakout in life, who knows? But right now we're just thinking about two more seasons."
