Performances will be held in a new venue, the state-of-the-art Moss Theatre at New Roads School. The theatre seats 344 and has acoustics engineered by Yasuhisa Toyota, acoustician for the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The theatre is located at New Roads School, The Herb Alpert Educational Village, 3131 Olympic Boulevard in Santa Monica.
The season will kick off Nov. 17 at 7 PM with Wonderful Town, which features music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green and a book by Joseph A. Fields and Jerome Chodorov, based on their play My Sister Eileen.
On Feb. 9, 2014, MTG will offer the West Coast premiere of Death Takes a Holiday, which has music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and a book by Peter Stone and Thomas Meehan. The musical is based on Alberto Casella's 1924 play La Morte in Vacanza, which was adapted for Broadway in 1929 by Walter Ferris.
Ruthless! The Musical, by Marvin Laird (music) and Joel Paley (book and lyrics), will be presented April 6 at 7 PM, and the season will conclude with the Tony-winning City of Angels, which will play June 15 at 7 PM. Angels was penned by composer Cy Coleman, lyricist David Zippel and librettist Larry Gelbart.
