As previously reported, Kate Whoriskey (The Miracle Worker) will direct the 8 PM one-night-only reading that will raise funds for Safe Horizon. Reckless was first produced Off-Broadway by Circle Repertory Theatre in 1988. Manhattan Theatre Club presented a Broadway revival of the play in 2004.
Fey ("30 Rock"), who is also at work on a musical adaptation of her film "Mean Girls," replaces the previously announced Lauren Ambrose in the role of Rachel. Kritzer (Legally Blonde, A Catered Affair) replaces Miriam Shor in the role of Trish/Woman Patient.
The cast also features Michael Esper (The Lyons, American Idiot) as Tom/Tom Jr./Man in Ski Mask, Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon (Grace, "Revolutionary Road") as Lloyd, Kathy Najimy ("Sister Act," "Hocus Pocus") as Doctors 1-6, Quincy Tyler Bernstine (Mr. Burns a Post Electric Play) as Pooty/Sue and Tony nominee Daniel Breaker (Shrek, Passing Strange) as Tim Timko/Roy/Talk Show Host.
Here's how it's billed: "Reckless follows the journey of Rachel (Fey), a housewife who discovers one fateful Christmas Eve that her husband has hired a hit-man to kill her, sending her out the window and on an unusual series of misadventures. Told with the signature dark humor of Craig Lucas, Reckless is a deeply moving story about running away from crisis and running toward yourself."
Tickets are $75. Visit ticketcentral.com or phone (212) 279-4200.
