Kate Whoriskey (The Miracle Worker) directs the 8 PM one-night-only reading that will raise funds for Safe Horizon. Reckless was first produced Off-Broadway by Circle Repertory Theatre in 1988. Manhattan Theatre Club presented a Broadway revival of the play in 2004.
Fey ("30 Rock"), who is also at work on a musical adaptation of her film "Mean Girls," plays Rachel in a cast that also features Esper (The Lyons, American Idiot) as Tom/Tom Jr./Man in Ski Mask, Academy Award nominee Shannon (Grace, "Revolutionary Road") as Lloyd, Kathy Najimy ("Sister Act," "Hocus Pocus") as Doctors 1-6, Quincy Tyler Bernstine (Mr. Burns a Post Electric Play) as Pooty/Sue and Tony nominee Daniel Breaker (Shrek, Passing Strange) as Tim Timko/Roy/Talk Show Host.
The evening is produced by The Indigo Theatre Project, "a theatre company that strives to unite passion with purpose by producing high-profile readings of notable plays to benefit charities aligned with the work being read." Safe Horizon is "the largest organization of its kind in the United States that helps victims overcome crisis and become survives as they restore their lives." Shoshana Feinstein and Allison Bressi also produce the reading.
