According to the production's official Facebook page, the unnamed artist slipped and fell during the "Wheel of Death" act, in which two performers walk, balance and jump on a pair of rotating metal wheels.
A statement on the show's Facebook page reads, "During the 7 PM performance of Zarkana last night an artist performing in the 'Wheel of Death' act slipped and fell off the wheel. The show was halted and the artist was transported to UMC where he is in stable condition and is expected to be released from hospital in the next few days."
Representatives for the production have not replied to Playbill.com's request for comment.
As previously reported, Cirque du Soleil will appeal the six citations named by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regarding the accidental death of performance artist Sarah (Sassoon) Guyard-Guillot, who died June 29 from falling approximately 90 feet in the Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas production of KÀ.
Guyard-Guillot, 31, fell during the final scene in which performers engage in an aerial battle while wearing safety harnesses attached to a cable. The performer, a citizen of France and resident of Las Vegas, died from multiple blunt force trauma.
